Care & Maintenance

Photo taken in 2022 prior to the launch of current restoration efforts.

Mowing on a regular basis and treating weeds, stickers, and ant beds. Treatments to restore the soil and bring back natural grass and wildflowers.

Der Stadt Friedhof began as a community cemetery with the local congregations that worshipped together taking the responsibility to care for the graves of their family members and tend the property. It is not a perpetual care cemetery.

As the years passed and the care from families dwindled, the cemetery fell into a state of disrepair. The Cemetery Board is making the effort to restore the grounds and graves left unattended for many years. They can only provide the appropriate care with adequate funding to address the necessary maintenance and repairs.

Grave and headstone restoration, mowing, trimming, treatments for weeds, stickers, and ants are on-going annual maintenance expenses. All donations go to the care of the cemetery.
