Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post, First printed sometime in the Summer of 2007

It sounds like the plot of a crime drama, but for a group of St. Mary's 4H students, it was a piece of forgotten history.

Originally published nearly two decades ago, the article below details a remarkable community effort. First discovered in a Blanco County field in the 1950s, a mysterious set of human bones spent decades journeying from a high school science lab to a local historian’s garage. In April 2007, the anonymous individual was finally laid to rest with a proper Christian ceremony at Der Stadt Friedhof thanks to a dedicated, two-year project by the St. Mary’s 4-H Club. Read on to look back at how a local youth group came together to give an anonymous piece of history a dignified, permanent farewell.
